Dr. Smits

Martijn Smits has been working as a functional urologist at Maastricht UMC+ since January 2020. Even before starting his training, he conducted research in Maastricht on treatment with sacral neuromodulation. During his training, he began a healthcare policy-oriented study. In his clinical work, he focuses on the treatment of overactive and underactive bladder. As the research lead for the development of a care pathway for OAB (overactive bladder), he applies the principles of data- and value-driven care to achieve the best outcomes and patient experiences in the near future.
