Course Description

This 2 day course is designed to support a transfer of knowledge and experience on the long term follow-up of DBS patients. The course combines theoretical learning with practical applications.

Target Audience

Neurologists (Parkinson hospitals or Rehabilitation centers) interested in learning more about patient selection techniques and long-term patient follow-up for Deep Brain Stimulation therapy.

Course objectives

• Patient selection (selection criteria, scales, tests, etc.)

• Implant procedure

• Patient follow-up (adapting DBS therapy to each patient, programming schemes, concomitant medication after implant, etc.)

• Long term follow-up: speech, logopedics, psychotherapy, psychological support, psychiatric problems, referring flow (role of DBS center – referring NL – Rehab hospital)
