Course Description

• How to set up and maintain an intrathecal therapy service

• Patients interaction

• Case presentations

• Covers all aspects of intrathecal therapy teams (pharmacy, nursing, surgeons, pain anesthetists) the setting up of the service

Target Audience

Any physician who is working in intrathecal therapy (spasticity or pain):

• Part intrathecal baclofen

• Part intrathecal therapy for pain

Day 1 

* Setting up an ITB service

* Surgical technique of pump implant

* Role of the nurse in managing pump implants

* Drugs/Mixture/Safety

* IT complications, granuloma, management.

* Patient selection and psychological screening

* Assessment of ITB trial results • Follow-up, patients, troubleshooting, advanced programming

* Drug preparation

* Managing an implantation service

* Refill – management, safety
